Doing what we can, when we can, with what we have.

Victoria Street Building Collapse

At Love George, one of our core functions is to support disaster response efforts. When a crisis strikes, rescue teams need to focus on saving lives and protecting infrastructure. That’s why we step in — to ensure they don’t have to worry about meals, supplies, or protective equipment.

On 6 May 2024, tragedy struck when a building collapsed in George. Just 50 minutes after the incident, at 15:05, Love George was activated by the CPF to assist on the scene.

From the very beginning, our team worked tirelessly to provide meals, refreshments, and essential supplies for the brave rescuers. We also sourced protective clothing and specialized items needed on the ground. For the entire duration of the rescue operation, our role was to stand in the gap — ensuring that the teams could keep their focus where it mattered most.

True to our commitment, we remained on-site around the clock and were among the very last to leave the disaster area on the following Saturday.

What made this effort even more impactful was the way the community of George, especially the local churches, united to help 24 hours a day. Love George became the link between the public and the rescuers, channeling compassion and resources directly to where they were needed most.

Moments like these highlight not only the importance of disaster response but also the power of a community that cares.
